Grandparents Day Play

Congratulations to the Tenth Age boys and girls on a wonderful Grandparents Day performance.  For our annual Tenth Age play, the boys performed "The True Story of Thanksgiving".  This five-scene play presented a humorous account of how some events during the Piligrims' first year in Playmouth may have occurred.  The 10-2 boys would like to send a special thank you to Mrs. Elliott for writing the music and assisting with our rehearsals.

Tall Tales

Our reading class is working together with Mr. Mascuch's class to create tall tales.  Using the selections we have read from American Tall Tales as inspiration, the students are working in small groups to plan their own stories.  Next, they will use the "Story Jumper" web site to create their tall tales.  We are looking forward to hearing the final products, which will undoubtedly include many exaggerations!

Place Value and Ordering Numbers

This past week in math group, students continued to develop their number sense and become more comfortable with larger numbers up to the hundred millons place.  After reviewing ordering numbers and place value, the boys and girls participated in a game involving dice. Players took turns rolling six dice, and were awared points based on who created the largest number.

A Scavenger Hunt, Summer Mementos, and More...

The 10-2 boys have been working very hard so far this year.  First and foremost, we have focused on learning new routines, while also getting acclimated to our classroom and the Tenth Age hallway.  During the first few days of school, each of the boys had the opportunity to share a summer memento with their 10-2 classmates.  These discussions sparked many stories about a variety of exciting summer experiences!  The boys were also introduced to 10-2 classroom jobs, worked on organizing their homework binders, explored math games on the iPads, and read about Paul Bunyan, John Henry, and Pecos Bill, as we started our American Tall Tales unit.  Together with Mr. Mascuch's class (10-1), the boys also participated in an exciting "scavenger hunt" to learn more about their classmates.
